Gianno & Freda, Inc.
Tom Freda and Mark Gianno met in 1982 when they commenced their Masters in Accounting studies at Northeastern University. Tom had just finished his law studies at the New England School of Law, Mark was working for a Massachusetts liquor wholesaler. They became fast friends. In a, “small world” twist, Tom and Mark had never met previously, despite the fact that Tom had been in Mark’s younger sister’s school homeroom since the fifth grade and they grew up within a mile of each other in Medford, Massachusetts.
After completing their Masters degree studies at Northeastern, and passing the Certified Public Accounting examination, Tom joined the tax division of Deloitte, Haskins and Sells (now Deloitte Touche, one of the big four international accounting firms) and Mark joined the audit division of Coopers and Lybrand (now Price Waterhouse Coopers, another of the big four international accounting firms).
In 1986, they each left their respective firms and jointly formed the partnership of Gianno and Freda (the order of names was chosen by the flip of a coin). Tom Freda practices in the Greater Boston office of the Gianno and Freda Financial Center, Mark Gianno practices in the Cape Cod offices. In 2008 the partnership incorporated as Gianno and Freda, Inc.
Over the years Tom Freda’s expertise in law and taxation and Mark Gianno’s concentration in accounting and financial planning have complemented one another in providing quality professional service to our clients. They regularly consult each other when faced with issues beyond their individual realms.
In their 30th year together, they continue their tradition of good friendship and collaboration.
